iPaid?

IPad no need for papersApple lovers will be thrilled to know that I’ve finally taken the plunge and bought a new iPad. After I got over the sting of yet another mobile plan and the $4 million in accessories (ok a slight exaggeration) – I was stoked when our resident Solutions Architect created an app so that I can get into my PC, our clients reports and all of my work files with a flick of the finger (not that finger!).. if you haven’t had a play with the iPad its well worth taking a look at an Apple store or checking out their website at http://www.apple.com/au/ipad/ – I’m no richer for the experience but I must admit.. it has changed everything slightly now that you won’t see me lugging around a laptop bag with a pen and a notepad – it’s all in my little iPad for now.

From little things big things grow?

If you’re looking to cut back on paper and be a bit greener, an innovator at a website called Change the Margins is thinking well inside the square on this one. A student trying to save money on paper decided she would increase the margins on a standard Office document in order to fit more words on the page. In her own words “I know that to most people, saving a sheet of paper here and there may not seem like a big financial windfall, but when a single paycheck stands between making rent at the end of the month and getting an eviction notice, you do whatever it takes!”. While she saved a few pennies at Office Depot (Officeworks for us Aussies) she wondered what would happen if this approach was adopted on a mass scale – interesting article that really got me thinking http://www.changethemargins.com/ and made me wonder what would happen if we all just increased our margins slightly in this green economy..

Warning! Warning!

Well, hopefully you won’t see anything too dramatic like this in your inbox from I Know IT, but for the past few weeks we’ve been working on a new “client notification system” which will keep our clients up to date on IT upgrades, changes and issues that might affect your business or just for informational purposes. A good example might be to for you to be aware of a new virus or to keep your staff in the loop if your server is going offline for maintenance over a weekend. We hope this system keeps you informed. We won’t bug you with the details but if you’ve been working with us and you’re ever interested in everything going on in your network you can login to our client portal at our website www.iknowit.com.au and log in to the top right hand corner. If you can’t get in because you don’t have a password just let us know here.

If you’re not virtually marketing..

you’re virtually crazy I recently attended a virtual marketing seminar recently about Facebook, Twitter and Google marketing. The mantra “if you’re not virtually marketing then you’re virtually crazy” – I can’t agree more but what truly inspired me was Gary Vaynerchuk’s book “Crush IT, Why Now is the Time to Cash in on Your Passion” available from Fishpond. Vaynerchuk took the time to blog, Tweet, Facebook and email blast everything he loved about wine and built an online niche empire. It’s worth the 2-3 hours of reading to learn how to take your business marketing strategy into the virtual world.

That’s all for this week – and in true Vaynerchuk style I would be virtually crazy if I didn’t say:
